Below is the numbers used to calculate age of dam adjustments by the ABHA. Of course the weights also have to adjusted to reflect variations in the wean date from the actual 205 day. The first table shows the adjustment for birth weights. The second table shows the adjustment for weaning weights. Remember that there is also an adjustment for how far before or after the 205 day the calf is weaned. To calculate this, you take the wean weight minus the birth weight and divide this by the age at weaning, then you multiply this by 205. The reasoning behind adjustments is that it puts calves on a level playing field. Make sure to not separate your contemporary groups by age of dams. This adjustment will take that into account. The breeder does not have to make these calculations. The ABHA will make these based upon the information submitted.
